Navigating Admissions: The International Student Pathway

As a premier national university, Science Tokyo provides specialized entry points for international students, maintaining highly competitive admissions standards.

The step-by-step admission process generally requires:

1. Eligibility: Applicants must be non-Japanese citizens who have completed 12 years of formal education outside of Japan.

2. Standardized Testing (EJU): For undergraduate applicants aiming to enroll in traditional Japanese-medium tracks, passing the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) in relevant rigorous science and math subjects is typically a mandatory requirement.

3. Language Competence: English-taught degree programs (such as the Global Scientists and Engineers Program) mandate high TOEFL or IELTS scores. Programs taught in Japanese strictly require high proficiency, usually demonstrated through the JLPT.

4. Documentation & Interviews: Applications require a personal statement, academic transcripts, and recommendation letters. Shortlisted candidates are invited for highly rigorous, subject-matter specific interviews to test foundational scientific readiness.
